Questions We Hear Before Every Stay
Most of what first-time guests ask us has less to do with the resort and more to do with the mountain it sits on. Here's what we tell them.
Is the altitude here something I need to prepare for?
Cripple Creek sits above 9,400 feet, noticeably higher than Colorado Springs or Denver. Most guests feel fine, but it is common to notice shortness of breath on stairs or a mild headache the first evening. We recommend drinking more water than usual, going easy on alcohol your first night, and taking the pool deck and spa slower than you would at sea level. Our front desk keeps electrolyte packets at no charge if you'd like one at check-in.
How old do I need to be to use the gaming floor?
Colorado's limited-stakes gaming law requires guests to be 21 or older to enter the casino floor or play any table game or slot machine. A valid government-issued photo ID is required. Guests under 21 are welcome throughout the rest of the resort, including the dining rooms, pool deck, and spa.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in begins at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out can often be arranged by request, subject to availability — ask when you book or call the front desk the morning of arrival.
Is parking included, and is it plowed in winter?
Self parking is complimentary for overnight guests in our heated garage, which stays clear of snow and ice year-round. Valet parking is also available at the main entrance for a nightly fee. Street parking along Bennett Avenue is metered and not recommended in winter months.
Are pets allowed?
We welcome dogs under 40 pounds in designated pet-friendly rooms for a nightly fee. Please let us know at booking so we can assign the right room — pets are not permitted on the pool deck, in dining rooms, or on the gaming floor.
Do you offer shuttle service from Colorado Springs?
We do not run a fixed shuttle, but our concierge can arrange a private car for groups of four or more with advance notice. Most guests drive themselves via US-24 and CO-67 or the Gold Camp Road route — see our location and directions page for details on both.
Is the pool deck open in winter?
Yes. The pool deck is fully enclosed in heated glass and stays open year-round, along with the hot tub terrace and fire-pit cabanas. It's one of the more popular reasons guests book a winter weekend here.
Can I cancel or change my reservation?
Standard reservations can be changed or canceled free of charge up to 48 hours before arrival. Package rates and holiday-weekend bookings may carry different terms, which are always listed at checkout before you confirm.
